Spexton
Co-founder & Owner
I co-founded Spexton in 2003 and continue to own and operate the brand. My work brings together the creative and operational sides of a jewelry business: what we make, how we present it, how customers choose it, and how we deliver on the promise.
Selected achievements.
- Built a custom-jewelry business that reached approximately $3 million in annual revenue at its peak and produced and sold more than 100,000 custom rings.
- Designed, opened, and operated nine retail locations over the life of the business, connecting merchandising, inventory, technology, and service across physical and online channels.
- Earned national recognition, including selection as one of the Top 10 Coolest Jewelers in 2009.
E-commerce & brand ownership.
- Personally built and managed Shopify stores, including product setup, merchandising, navigation, site content, and the day-to-day shopping experience.
- Owned product assortment, pricing, purchasing, and supplier relationships, balancing customer expectations with production capacity and business economics.
- Directed brand voice, photography standards, product presentation, and customer-facing copy so the visual identity carried through the complete purchase.
- Translated detailed customization choices—materials, width, sizing, engraving, and production timing—into understandable product information and ordering workflows.
Customer experience & operations.
- Managed the customer journey from discovery and design consultation through production updates, delivery, and aftercare for meaningful, often deadline-sensitive purchases.
- Created repeatable procedures for order intake, production handoffs, quality review, customer communication, shipping, and exception handling.
- Coordinated production schedules, purchasing, inventory, vendor relationships, and quality standards around custom specifications and wedding deadlines.
- Personally resolved difficult service situations involving fit, design expectations, production timing, and shipping, combining practical judgment with clear communication.
What I’m working on now.
I’m developing Spexton’s next presentation around The Art of Less: a restrained visual direction carried through editorial imagery, product photography, customization, the brand story, and packaging.
I use AI to explore and implement ideas, then review the result against the real product and the customer’s needs. My contribution includes the creative brief, product knowledge, requirements, visual judgment, and repeated refinement of the shopping experience.
