Field operations

I independently manage a regional merchandising workflow, from planning store visits to documenting the work and communicating exceptions. Doing that work myself also led me to build TaskMile, an independent application connecting routes, time, mileage, tasks, and the daily record.
Field responsibilities.
- Coordinate routes, schedules, travel logistics, and recurring merchandising visits across Walmart, Target, and Best Buy locations.
- Build productive relationships with store teams, communicate visit requirements, and adapt when access or local conditions affect the work.
- Maintain accurate visit records, task checklists, time and mileage documentation, and clear reports of completed work and unresolved issues.
- Communicate delays, refusals, and other operational exceptions with enough context for appropriate follow-up while managing the territory with limited day-to-day supervision.
TaskMile: an independent product.
Repeated entry and disconnected records made the work harder than it needed to be. I began designing a mobile workflow around the actual sequence of my day, keeping information attached to the visit that produced it.
- Defined route planning, drive and work timing, mileage, store-level checklists, notes, administrative time, and daily summaries as parts of one connected workflow.
- Directed AI-assisted implementation using React, Supabase, and Netlify, supplying the operational rules, priorities, and acceptance criteria.
- Used the application in active field conditions, reproduced problems, and refined the interface around practical phone use.
- Created demonstration material to explain the workflow and its value to other people doing field work.
Turning experience into requirements.
- Mapped exceptions such as delayed drives, refused visits, hotel-based routes, administrative work, and commute treatment into explicit behavior.
- Identified inconsistencies between timer-based and manual entry and specified validation that applies across both paths.
- Defined day-swap behavior that preserves visits, notes, stop order, administrative blocks, and estimates, with protection for started or completed work.
- Specified an undo action that cannot overwrite newer changes, making data preservation part of the interaction design.
Practical results & ongoing work.
TaskMile brings planning, time, mileage, tasks, and exceptions together in a working application I use in my own routine. In my experience it reduces repeated work and errors; I continue to refine it through real use and testing.
TaskMile is my independent project. It has not been adopted company-wide and is not presented as an official CROSSMARK or Acosta platform. Its direction is to help an individual field worker organize and record their own day.
